| Why
use barcodes? |
They
ensure error-free entry of book numbers, user numbers and ISBNs. |
|
They
speed up stock cataloguing, registration of users and the issue
and return of loans. |
|
In
school, they give students experience of a real-life ICT application. |
|
|
| Using
a barcode reader |
We can
supply a barcode reader for use in your library - this is
a hand-held scanner such as you may see in shops or other
libraries.
|
| |
The
barcode reader simply plugs into your computer's USB port. |
| |
To
scan in a barcode, you just place the head of the barcode reader
over it and press the trigger. The reader translates the barcode
into a stock or user number, which is shown on your screen. |
| How
to use barcodes with a library package |
If
you use our pre-printed barcode labels with The Book Detective,
Senior Librarian or BookMaster, you simply stick
a label in each book, then scan the label whenever you need
to enter a book number. |
|
This
ensures speed and accuracy when you are cataloguing
(adding, editing or deleting stock), or issuing and
returning loans. |
|
You
also use barcoded user cards to help you administer
user records and loans. And you
can easily scan in ISBN barcodes from your book
covers if you wish to use them. |
| Add
your logo |
Your
organization name is printed at the top of stock labels and
user cards as standard. If you wish we will add your graphic logo
in full colour (or in black and white) to labels and cards - you
pay a once-only setup fee, and then prices for supplies according
to our pricelist. |
| Protective
cases |
We
are able to supply transparent plastic slip cases to protect
your user cards and prolong their life. |
