Frequently Asked Questions
+ When I open Library Gold, I can only use the Quick Loans Query and Stock Search screens. Why?
You need to login as an Administrator. Open Library Gold. When the Login screen appears, click on the down-arrow symbol to the right of - Click OK - . Select Manager from the drop-down menu. Then enter the default Manager password (see the Quick Start Guide). You will now have access to all Library Gold features.
+ I cannot change the loan period. I have selected Tools | Options | Loans and changed the default loan period, but it has no effect.
If member groups are activated, the overall default loan period is overridden by the loan period settings for individual groups, so it is these that you need to change. For more details, see Loan periods and Due date calculation in Library Gold Help.
+ On a network, can I nominate a computer other than the network server to host Library Gold?
Yes, you can set any computer on the network as the “server” for Library Gold, but this must be the only computer on the network in which your Library Gold data is stored. If your data is stored on more than one computer, problems will occur.
+ Is it possible to access Library Gold data via the Internet?
No, we do not envisage developing Library Gold for Internet access at present.
+ Can I re-use item and member numbers?
Yes, but not immediately after they have been deleted or withdrawn. Library Gold retains book and member records for a set period after withdrawal or cancellation, so you cannot re-use their identification numbers during this period. You can change how long data records are retained in Library Gold by selecting Tools | Options | System Settings. Then select "Keep data records for" and change the number of years shown.
+ Can I import my existing library data into Library Gold?
If you have an older library system from Cadomel Library Systems (The Book Detective, BookMaster, School Library or Senior Librarian), a program to convert your data is provided free with Library Gold. If you have a library system from another provider, please contact us about converting your data - we may be able to help.
